Dead People Day (Thursday)

The unintentional theme of today seemed to be the famous deceased of France.  We visited the Pantheon, where such figures as Rousseau, Voltaire and Hugo are buried.  We walked past the Arènes de Lutèce, the old Roman arena.  Then it was off to Père-Lachaise cemetary, where we saw the tombs of Edith Piaf, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, etc.  We had a walking tour of the Marais Quarter, then a bit of shopping.  We got on the metro for dinner, but were slowed down by closures on some lines.  Made it eventually, dinner was ok.  We took the funicular to Sacre-Coeur, then walked around Montmartre...the loads of touristy stores, the Moulin de la Galette, the statue of the story Le Passe-Muraille, and yes, the Moulin Rouge.  Can't believe how long these days seem!
